"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. " -- Margaret Mead

Be A VIP!
Volunteers Improving People & Places

Are you looking for a way to get more involved with your child's education? Not only will you be a VIP in our eyes, you will be a VIP in the eyes of your child and their friends. You will be rewarded with smiles and waves from the kids as you make your way down the school halls. Plus, research shows that children whose parents are actively involved are more likely to succeed in school. They are more like to :

  • Earn higher grades.
  • Have better social skills
  • Show improved behavior and attendance
  • Graduate and more!

If every Spring Trail parent commits to just two hours every year we can do amazing things for our kids and our school. Want to do more? That’s up to you. We don’t want people to feel like they are going to be in a deep abyss of volunteering. Please watch and sign-up for opportunities as they come home in your child's Wednesday folder or tell us what works into your schedule and interests. Involvement is for everyone.

We thank you in advance for your help. Volunteering gives you a great opportunity to meet your child's friends and classmates as well as connect as a family.

Spring Trail Elementary Requirements for Volunteers

For the safety of students, Spring Trail Elementary recommends that all volunteers be fingerprinted and background checked. It is required for volunteers who will be working with students who are not in the direct line of sight of a principal or district employee (e.g.: Field Trips, Running Club, small group help in planning rooms). District U-46 does cover the cost of the fingerprinting and background check; and once approved, it lasts for the entire duration your child is at U-46. To complete this process, be sure to have your drivers' license or state ID, then go to the U-46 District HR Offices at 355 E. Chicago Street in Elgin, IL 60120. For more information contact District U-46 at 847-888-5000.
